JG Speedfit Kawasaki
rider Leon Haslam
secured his first win of 2018, perfectly timing his charge on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki in tricky conditions at Brands Hatch to claim victory!
After the initial race was red flagged as heavy rain caused tricky track conditions for many riders at the Kent track. The restarted, but shortened, 22-lap race produced a tense race-long fight between a number of front-runners with the lead passing amongst half a dozen riders in the early stages!
BMW’s Michael Laverty moved at the front with a move on Haslam and looked to build a decent gap but the Northern Irish rider was reeled back in by the chasing pack in the closing stages with Glenn Irwin passing his countryman for the lead with two laps to go.
Haslam also nipped past Laverty to set up a two-lap dice against the Be Wiser Ducati of Glenn Irwin, the pair exchanged passes on the track. The final lap saw Haslam dived up the inside at Surtees and blocked the inside line as they rounded Mclaren and Clarke Curve to power to his first victory of 2018 ahead of Irwin in second. Laverty holding on to claim third.
