Andrea Dovizioso - a name that Muc-Off and Powersports fans are more than familiar with! A MotoGP veteran and superbike legend who is best known for his pinpoint agility at break-neck speeds and ability to cut the cleanest lines on the track.

With his departure from the Factory Ducati team and the MotoGP circuit in 2020 – this year he’s getting down and dirty, and back to his original passion for two wheels… Motocross.

We caught up with him in his Italian hometown for a day of riding in the dirt and getting to know the man behind the visor.

It will come as no surprise to you that he’s just as nippy in the dirt as he is on the road, and his composure on the bike is second to none. Riding a different discipline, on a different track, requiring different skills is challenging for even the world’s best athletes, yet Dovi looks at home on a motocross track and just as comfortable on his KTM 450 SX-F as he did on his Ducati. Calm, with his signature Italian style, focus and determination, just with added jumps, whoops and whips!

Many are not aware that his motorcycle career was born from dirt. Getting into motocross at a young age, he explains that he was inspired by his father who also raced Motocross. Within a couple of years of riding, at just six years old, Dovi began to race Pocket Bikes alongside MX, which ultimately began his transition into the professional race scene by the age of 15.

His career quickly grew from strength to strength – breaking onto the MotoGP circuit back in 2008, the feisty Italian has racked up up 60 plus podium finishes and secured three consecutive runner up championship finishes. It’s a resume to be proud of and a mean feat for someone who’s only just reached their mid-30’s!

This year will be his first career break from the professional circuit, as he talked about his love for the Moto lifestyle. “The really cool things about Motocross… is the way you live the training for MX, the race days of MX… there’s a lot of really relaxed things about MX I really love” – sounds to us like he’s looking forward to getting back to it!

In the full interview, he talks about his past experiences and opens up about his dreams for the future and what he wants to do next… but you’ll have to watch the video for that kinda gossip!
